Awards

The Distinguished Service Award is given to a section member for his or her exceptional service to the ACP New York Section and for outstanding contributions to the prosthodontic sciences.

This year’s Distinguished Service Award goes to Dr. Vincent Celenza

Dr. Vincent Celenza earned his graduate specialty degree in prosthodontics from Boston University in 1979 and achieved Diplomate status from the American Board of Prosthodontics in 1988. He also maintains active membership as a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontics,  Fellow of the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics,  Past President of the  American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry,  Fellow and Past President of the Northeastern Gnathological Society.

Throughout his career, Dr. Celenza has taught at New York University College of Dentistry, Columbia University, the Manhattan VA, Rutgers University, and the Dental College of Georgia in Augusta, to name a few. He has lectured nationally and internationally on prosthodontics and its integration with other areas of dentistry. His extensive photographic and radiographic follow-up of clinical cases has enabled him to evaluate and refine treatment outcomes, providing a rare long-term perspective on the success and evolution of restorative approaches.

Dr. Celenza’s professional path continues a family legacy established by his father, Dr. Frank V. Celenza — a world-renowned prosthodontist and revered educator whose influence shaped generations of clinicians, particularly within the American College of Prosthodontists and the New York dental community. His brother, Dr. Frank Celenza, proudly carries forward that tradition as a dual-trained specialist in orthodontics and periodontics.

Now maintaining a busy three-day-a-week practice in New York City, Dr. Celenza enjoys working alongside his wonderful staff and his partner, Dr. Dan Kerrigan — a super-talented, board-certified prosthodontist in his own right. They enjoy working together, doing their best in the specialty they chose, and having a good time along the way.

He and his wife, Christine — a former dental hygienist — have been married for 42 years and take great pride in their two sons, Frankie (39) and Luke (34). Outside the office, Vinny plays tennis three times a week, is an avid cyclist, and begins each day with time on the mat. A lifelong jazz enthusiast, he also enjoys playing the drums whenever time allows.
