Speaker: Dr. Darya Luchinskaya

Dr. Darya Luchinskaya is a specialist in Prosthodontics currently practicing in ClearChoice Dental Implant Center in Roseland, NJ. She earned her DDS and MS at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine, graduating in 2015. During that time, she served as Chief Resident, Assistant Clinical Professor, and received multiple awards for her research studies. Dr. Luchinskaya is a published author and an avid learner, participating in conferences, study clubs, and clinical research. She specializes in prosthetically driven implant dentistry and has completed over 1,000 full arch cases thus far. She has extensive experience in reconstructing the most complex dentitions and thoroughly enjoys every aspect of designing smiles and ensuring optimal function, esthetics, and longevity.

“Say Sixty-Six, the S sound”

Full-arch dental implant treatment encompasses restoring the patient’s function as well as esthetics. A critical component of a patient’s ability to “function” post-operatively is the ability to speak clearly and without any impediments. Speech is a highly sophisticated and dynamic physiological process that is heavily affected by dental reconstruction. Although some research has been done on this topic, the majority of it is of observational studies based on complete denture prosthodontics. Speech, as it relates to implant prosthodontics, is still a dynamic and growing topic that needs further study. This presentation will demonstrate a combination of existing dental literature, as well as my personal clinical observations. I will discuss how to diagnose and classify speech patterns, how to preserve critical landmarks, and how to troubleshoot if a speech impediment occurs post-op prosthodontic reconstruction with dental implants.
